Rambling thoughts --- holidays

It has been quite awhile since I wrote about my thoughts or updates about myself. And since I am in no mood of playing Mosiang at this time, I think I will just write something here.

God is calling. Yes, I can feel His voice calling me. It has been slightly over a year since I resigned from the church and embarked on the world of computers and business. Yet, I know that my life is to serve God. If you ask me where, when, what, who and how, I would not be able to give you much answer. All I know is that I cannot run away from Him. Yes, you read it correctly…. “run away”.

You see, like many of us out there, we are actually running away from God’s calling in our lives. Instead of going the direction planned by God, we are moving towards our own direction. Well, that is good and not so bad a decision but it is definitely not the best decision for our lives.

Ok, back to my life. I’ve been away from serving God in the church and busy with the business and the children. In a way it has been like a holiday for me. But unfortunately again, like many of us out there, going for a holiday does not mean we go for a rest. Most of the time, our holidays are very tiring, busy going here and there, doing this and that, making sure we cover everything within a short period of time. At the end of the holiday, we came back tired. Yes, we have done and seen lots of things & places but it is very tiring. That is how it has been for my “holiday” from serving in the church. Busy doing other things and quite tiring also.

As much as I still want to be on “holiday” I know I have to come back home sooner or later. God is calling me to “come back home”. No, not die and go to him, but going back to the house of God. One indication of this is that the pastor is calling me to be involved in the leadership role. Sigh….the Lord knows my feeling. Not at all excited but my spirit man knows it would be much better than following the carnal desires of my heart. And it will take some time for me to adjust back to weather and atmosphere at home. Hopefully the jet lag would not be too bad and too long to disappear.

p/s Lord, can I extend my holidays some more?

G-shock

hahaha... most of the time when I saw the word G-shock, my "erotic" mind will think for a second about G-string undies. Yes, I dare to tell the truth here, mainly because that erotic mind stops there, no more continuation. If I want to continue, I will think about my wife.... safe and okay to do that.

Sorry for the side-track. What I want to talk about is the new watch that my wife got for me. I have been using it for about a week now. I like it very much especially the flexible strap. The only problem with that watch is that the background is white in color and the needles are chrome. A bit difficult to read the time as the contrast is not there. Have to tilt the watch at certain angle in order to read the time correctly. Well, what can I expect of a promotional watch by a petroleum company.

Maybe if my wife were to get for me one of the Casio G-Shock Watches, then I would not have this problem. With G-Shock watches, I can be very active in sports and not worry about damaging the watch. For the meantime, I am contented with my wife's watch gift.... and my wife too. :)

PLASTIC BOTTLE can be dangerous.

Making ready for the game

The RGFC will have a football friendly match next Sunday. This time it will be with another team from Kampung Bachang. This team consists mainly of the internet cafe customers. They do not have a proper football club but they do play as a team whenever they have free time. It will just be a friendly without any prize for the winner. While waiting for the match day, I might as well play the fantasy football. I might even win a prize if I win.

Hair transplants for you

When I was at the age of 28 I can still say to others that I do not have any white hair. While my other siblings would have lots of white hair at that age, I was kind of proud that there is hardly any white hair on my head. Now of course, I cannot say the same. Due to work stress and other factors, the white hairs are beginning to make their permanent resident on my head.

I noticed that my eldest brother’s head has shown signs of balding. The hair is thinning at the middle of his head. I do hope that he will not go totally bald. So far, the other siblings have no hair balding signs and we hope we will not have any balding signs at all. Somehow we do not like to be bald as there is like a social stigma that goes with it.

Be not fearful even if you have signs of balding. There is help for your problem. Dr. Shapiro does Hair Transplants in Florida for both men and women. His practice is based in South Florida covering other areas like Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Delray Beach, Pompano Beach, Hollywood, and West Palm Beach. The wonderful thing about Dr. Shapiro’s practice is that you can meet with his clients and talk with them about their experiences. If you are still not sure about the procedure, you can arrange to view the actual hair transplant procedure. Check out his website for more details.

Home Improvement

Since my mother in law is back from Kuching and my son will be with her in the morning, I have time for some home improvement. I have to fixed the curtain poles in my bedroom. My girls accidentally pulled the curtain and the curtain poles got detached from the wall. Need to find a strong cement glue to fix it.

MoSiang Character For Sale

Someone offered to buy my MoSiang character from RM150.00. Already decided to sell until my guild member told me that my price is very low compared to others who have lower level than me and having less skill than me. So I am going to keep it and hope someone would be willing to offer me higher.

How is your day today?

Everytime when you meet someone you know of, you will ask him, "How are you?" It is just a formal greeting and not necessarily you really want to know about what he is going through in his life. It is the same when you are online and chatting with your friends. They will ask you that simple formal greeting and you have the choice of whether to tell them or not. Depending on the closeness of your friendship, you will answer accordingly.

Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Recently it has been appointed as one of UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the most famous performing arts venues in the world. If you are an avid fan of ballet, theater or musical productions, then your experience would not be complete if you have not been to Sydney Opera House.

A friend of mine who studied in Australia and now currently works as a lawyer there loves to go to the Opera House. She is a musician too and very often she would sent emails about various musical concerts and promotions. She would write about her experiences and how wonderful it is to be in the concert hall listening to the beautiful music. Wah.... I really envy her.

There is one time where she emailed me and informed me about one musical concert. She even encouraged me to register and go all the way to Australia for that concert. I was thinking about the accomodation in Sydney if I were to go there. Upon doing a search online, I found that there are cheap hotels in Sydney that I can stay should I go for the concert. Besides the Sydney Opera House, I would love to visit the Darling Harbour where Sydney Aquarium is located. My three children would sure love that place. However, the busyness of my work does not permit me to go over.

Another place that I would go when I am in Australia is Melbourne. I want to visit my sister who is staying there. Of course, a visit to Australia would not be complete without going to visit the kangaroos. Wah... there are so many places to visit in Australia. Maybe I will plan for three visits to cover most of the places in Australia.

OK, This is for the Wives ..

Received this story in my email..... nice and touching story.

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said I love you but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

"What's wrong, are you well," she asked?

"I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you," I responded. "Just the two of us."

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she
had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's.

"I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed, "she said, as she got into the car. They can't wait to hear about our meeting". We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips "It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said.

"Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation - nothing extraordinary, but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home. "Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died. It happened so suddenly that I did not get to do anything for her.

Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place where mother and I had dined.

An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I LOVE YOU!" and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family.

Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time."

Watch out for those calories

It is not easy to stay healthy and slim. With all the new types of food that is fighting to get our attention, eating proper nutritional food would be a challenge. The fast food industries are growing as we are getting accustomed to getting everything done fast, including our food. But generally fast food is not the best choice of healthy food. In fact it is one of the worse kinds of food if you want to stay healthy. Okay, I would not go into the debate about fast food versus healthy living. I too at times prefer to go for fast food. Hey… the nutrition may not be there but the taste is good.

What I want to say is that we need to have a good balance of food diet. We must know what is good for the body and what is not. We need to know how much calories each of our bodies need daily. The good rule of the thumb is that we should not consume more calories than the amount of calories burned by our bodies daily. That of course will depend on the types of activities that you normally everyday. The more active lifestyle you have, the more calories you will need to take. If you are not sure how much calories you are taking everyday, check out the calorie counter website. It is easy to use and is very useful to help you monitor your calorie intake. Another tip that I myself found useful is to drink lots of water everyday, at least 2 liters of water everyday for me. All the best in staying healthy and slim.

Pussy cat, pussy cat, where have you been?

If you ask me to imagine something that relates to United Kingdom or London, then the first image that would appear in my mind are the castles. Castles as shown in the movies and documentaries. Castles where there are many rooms and halls and towers and dungeons. Castle that stood majestically on a hill or surrounded by large plain of grass.

I have never been to London but one day I wish I could visit my sister there. She is living in London and it would be nice to visit her while on holiday there. If her place is not sufficient for us to stay, then we would just find London Hotels to stay like Earls Court Gardens Hotel which charge only GBP10.00 a day. The good thing about Hotels in London is that you can do a last minute booking with them and yet still have a reasonable cheap room rates. While I am there, I would definitely go to Manchester and try to see my favorite football club Manchester United players in training. Who knows I might be blessed and be able to watch them in a real game while I am there. Then, just like the pussy cat in the children rhyme, I will say, “I’ve been to London, to see the football game”. Hehehehe…London, wait for me.

Cheers to the bartenders.

When I was still young, I was amazed at the people who work in a bar. Amazed of the way they serve their customers in a well-mannered and polite way. Amazed of the way they prepare the drinks requested by the customers. Amazed at the knowledge they have in order to prepare special drinks. Well, that is what I saw in the movies, and I still do feel amazed at them now especially those working in a big bar that serves a long list of drinks. It is not easy to remember the various combinations of so many Mixed Drinks.

Then after my secondary school, I worked as a bartender. Just a small bar for me to prepare drinks for the customers but it was fun working there. I got the chance to explore and learn new Mixed Drink Recipes. I would not say that I am good at it but I did my best. There are times when the customers would be in a jovial and happy mood after having their first drink. Then they would challenge one another for a Drinking Games. It is fun to see them enjoying themselves but once they drink a little too much, then I had to be watchful that they would not get out of control. To all the bartenders out there, “Cheers!”.

Touching reunion.

The brand new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first ministry, to reopen a church in suburban Brooklyn, arrived in early October excited about their opportunities. When they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work. They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on Christmas Eve.

They worked hard, repairing pews, plastering walls, painting, etc, and on December 18
were ahead of schedule and just about finished. On December 19 a terrible tempest - a driving rainstorm hit the area and lasted for two days. On the 21st, the pastor went over to the church. His heart sank when he saw that the roof had leaked, causing a large area of plaster about 20 feet by 8 feet to fall off the front wall of the sanctuary just behind the pulpit, beginning about head high. The pastor cleaned up the mess on the floor, and not knowing what else to do but postpone the Christmas Eve service, headed home.

On the way he noticed that a local business was having a flea market type sale for charity so he stopped in. One of the items was a beautiful, handmade, ivory colored, crocheted tablecloth with exquisite work, fine colors and a Cross embroidered right in the center. It was just the right size to cover up the hole in the front wall. He bought it and headed back to the church.

By this time it had started to snow. An older woman running from the opposite direction was trying to catch the bus. She missed it. The pastor invited her to wait in the warm church for the next bus 45 minutes later.

She sat in a pew and paid no attention to the pastor while he got a ladder, hangers, etc., to put up the tablecloth as a wall tapestry. The pastor could hardly believe how beautiful it looked and it covered up the entire problem area.

Then he noticed the woman walking down the center aisle. Her face was like a sheet. "Pastor," she asked, "where did you get that tablecloth?"
The pastor explained. The woman asked him to check the lower right corner to see if the initials, EBG were crocheted into it there. They were. These were the initials of the woman, and she had made this tablecloth 35 years before, in Austria.

The woman could hardly believe it as the pastor told how he had just gotten the Tablecloth. The woman explained that before the war she and her husband were well-to-do people in Austria.

When the Nazis came, she was forced to leave. Her husband was going to follow her the next week. He was captured, sent to prison and never saw her husband or her home again.

The pastor wanted to give her the tablecloth; but she made the pastor keep it for the church. The pastor insisted on driving her home, which was the least he could do. She lived on the other side of Staten Island and was only in Brooklyn for the day for a housecleaning job.

What a wonderful service they had on Christmas Eve. The church was almost full. The music and the spirit were great. At the end of the service, the pastor and his wife greeted everyone at the door and many said that they would return.

One older man, whom the pastor recognized from the neighborhood continued to sit in one of the pews and stare, and the pastor wondered why he wasn't leaving. The man asked him where he got the tablecloth on the front wall because it was identical to one that his wife had made years ago when they lived in Austria before the war and how could there be two tablecloths so much alike.

He told the pastor how the Nazis came, how he forced his wife to flee for her safety and he was supposed to follow her, but he was arrested and put in a prison. He never saw his wife or his home again all the 35 years in between.

The pastor asked him if he would allow him to take him for a little ride. They drove to Staten Island and to the same house where the pastor had taken the woman three days earlier. He helped the man climb the three flights of stairs to the woman's apartment, knocked on the door and he saw the greatest Christmas reunion he could ever imagine.

True Story - submitted by Pastor Rob Reid

Who says God does not work in mysterious ways. I asked the Lord to bless you as I prayed for you today, to guide you and protect you as you go along your way. His love is always with you, His promises are true, and when we give Him all our cares you know He will see us through.

Fashion for Men

My wife also complains about the clothes that I wear. I am a very simple person and I prefer my clothing to be simple, t-shirt and jeans or slacks. So whenever she goes shopping she will ask me whether I needed new clothes. My answer will always be “No”. But at times I have no choice but to get new ties (I only have 3 of them) and new formal suit when there is wedding or formal function to attend.

I did hopped over to Belisi Fashions Blog on Shoes, Jewelry, Handbags & Fashion to get some latest update on men’s clothing. At Sharp By Design, I got tips on how to dress like a celebrity some more and I won’t face anymore headache when it comes to my father in law’s birthday or Father’s Day. There’s a list of idea of what to give as a gift to dads.

How true this is.

A Sunday school teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible: Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter.

Little Rick was excited about the task, but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Rickey was very nervous.

When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know."

Liquor to keep me warm

The weather is very cold these few days and to avoid from cough, I drank DOM or any liquor that I can find in the house to keep me warm. This is the last bottle of DOM available in the house. It comes together with one of the wine gift baskets that wifey got when she gave birth to my son.

Wifey just informed me that mother in law is coming back tomorrow with my sister in law and her newborn. I still have not thought of any gift for the baby and the mother. A set of wine gift basket will be perfect for her. As for the baby, well, there’s baby gift basket too. Btw, if you are wondering where am I going to get it, Gourmet Gift Baskets of course.

Daddy wants a hug

OK... here's a tip for the young and new fathers out there. Well... I know you did not ask for it but I just want to share lah my experience. I did it and am blessed by it so why not share so that you fathers would experience the blessings too.

A few months ago I started to ask my two daughters to give me a hug when I want to go to work at night. Yes, at first I do have to take the initiative and effort to go to them and hug them. I would do this almost everyday. It only takes about less than two minutes to go and hug each one of my two daughters. A hug and a kiss and a "Daddy loves you" to each one of them, Annabelle and Clarissa.
After a while, this has become a daily routine for me and the two girls. The best thing that happens now is that I don't have to take the initiative anymore. My two girls would be wanting to give me a hug and a kiss whenever I told them that I am going to work. Wah... so nice to be loved by them.

Now, Barnabas who is only a year old and who has been watching and observing his two sisters, would also hurry to me and wanting a hug from me..... or I think it is he who wants to hug me.
Wah... so nice lah to get this kind of affection from your children. So do try this out and I pray that you will experience the affection from your children too.

Oh ya, I do kiss my wife also and at times hug her when I go to work.

Enjoying fatherhood

It is not easy to be a father. There are many things that comes with a child. Not only I have to change my daily schedule, my interest and attention have to be divided between my wife, my children, my family, my work and my own wants. Truthfully, there are times when I wished that I am still single. Lol.... ok...many times.

But watching my two daughters grow up and now Barnabas, makes me enjoy being a father. I loves to be around them and play with them. Yes, it can be very tiring to play with these energetic vibrant young adorable cute at times stubborn children but its fun. Unless of course you are not in the mood, then it is a chore.

Well, to all my children, Daddy just want to say, "Daddy is proud of all of you and thank you for making daddy's life more meaningful by your presence".

Long lasting furniture

In my mother’s house there are a few old wooden cupboards. They are very simple in design, fulfilling its purpose for storage of things. These wooden cupboards are made of solid teak wood and have been with the family for a few generations. It is always a big problem for us when we want to rearrange the cupboards because we would need at least three or four people to carry it. It is very heavy.

It is very difficult to find these kinds of cupboards in the market. The usual cupboards that you see at the furniture shops are usually made of low quality wood. Though the designs are attractive but it normally does not last long and very light. If you want durable furniture you should look out for teak patio furniture. Yes it may be a little bit expensive but it is more economical in the long term.

Man of few words

I am a man of few words. Most lawyers are. People have this wrong perspective that lawyers are very talkative people. Salesmen are but no lawyers. We speak when it is needed. So if you ask me to write 7 non paid posts in one day, I might give up the offer taken. Unlike many ladies out there, I really wonder how can they maintain so many blogs and write a long post each time. I think ladies are gifted in expressing themselves and going into thing in detail. Don't you think so?

My New Watch

Last night I just mentioned to wifey that my "Rolex" is not working anymore. Just now during lunch, wifey came home with the watch you see above. Isn't God good? He knows my need and I do not have to spend a single cent for it. It is a gift from one of wifey company's customer.

Crew cab pickup truck

This year I see more and more crew cab pickup truck on the road. Unlike the normal pickup truck, crew cab has second row seating for your passengers. So you can actually use the pickup for your family outing. My eldest brother who is an estate manager just got a crew cab pickup truck to replace the jeep. My brother in law also bought the crew cab pickup truck to send his alkaline water to his customers and almost every month he would go jungle trekking with the truck. If I ever need to get another vehicle, I would choose crew cab pickup truck.

To win RM50

Wifey submitted the above picture of Clarissa sleeping in the kindy to The Star Thumbnail to stand a chance to win RM50.00 after a mommy told her about it in her blog. Do you this picture can win ah? hehe. I think ah, if got saliva flowing out from her mouth, sure win one! LOL

Favorite PU Spot

As usual the girls will play at the swings. Wife carrying my son sitting on one swing and me, carrying my eldest. My independent girl will run to her swing at another tree and swing by herself. Suddenly she came running to me. "Daddy, I want to shee-shee." "Just squat down and shee-shee on the ground." I told her. "No, I want to shee-shee on the stones." she replied. She walks to the gravel stone near the verandah and PU there. Well, this is not the first time she PU there. :)

Crane Operator

According to my wife, FIL used to work as a Crane Operator before he got married. He followed his father footstep who was also a crane operator. After getting married to my MIL, he stopped working as a crane operator as the job requires him to travel and be away from his family very often. Then he got a job in a golf course as a supervisor. Through that job, he raised and educates his children. He did part time farming too. Planting paddy, tobacco, sweet potato, long bean and corn for extra income. He is sure a very hardworking man.

Tough Love

While I was trying to empty the water tank, Clarissa started screaming. “Daddy! Ants bite me.” Wifey was carrying Barnabas instructed me to help her out. Well, need to teach her to be independent. I just told Clarissa to move away from the place and catch the ants. She did as instructed. I do not need to move an inch! This is what you call tough love. ;)

Increase Children's Immunity

Every evening whether possible, I will get my children out to play. Let them get bitten by ants and mosquito. Let them play with the stone, the sand and the soil. All this helps to increase their body immunity. Praise God so far none of them fall sick due to eating sand or soil or drinking water straight from the pipe.

Why Daddy

As I was tying away on this computer, my eldest girl approached me.

“Daddy what are you doing?” she asked.

“Writing on Daddy’s blog.” I replied her

Then all the “Why” question started.

“Why do you have to write on your blog Daddy?”

“Why you cannot write on the paper, like me?” You see she was drawing on an A4 next to table behind me.

“Daddy is writing paid post now. If not your Mommy will scold Daddy if Daddy don’t write.”

“Why Mommy scold Daddy?”

“If Daddy don’t write, we won’t have enough money to bring you to Disney World and stay in a nice apartment by Orlando Florida Vacation Rentals

“Huh???”

“Never mind, you just continue your drawing and don’t disturb Daddy.”

“Why?”

*bang head on the keyboard*
(me, not my girl) hehe.

Ouchh... daddy please help

Brought my three children to play at the compound. They love to walk around the compound. The two girls love to sit on the swings. Barnabas also loves to climb on another low lever swing. However, the things that they do not like are the stony ground and the ants. If it is just the black colored ants that bite them, then it is not so bad. The ants that they dislike most, not just them but me also, is the fire ants. If you ever got the fire ants bites before, you will know how painful it could be. The after-bite of the fire ants is also something that you will dread.

Just this afternoon, my eldest daughter Annabelle got bitten by the fire ants. "Ouch.... daddy, daddy, got ants. Help, help" She started to cry. Told her to move away from the ants. Now there are ants bite marks on her leg.

If you are experiencing problems with fire ants, check out this informative website http://www.controlfireants.com/. You could find valuable information about fire ants and how best you can control them.

What is NFL Entry Draft?

I am a sportsman. I am a long distance runner, I am a footballer, I play squash and badminton and I swim. I can say that I am pretty good at all the above mentioned sports. The only game that I have not tried is hockey but I love watching others playing. Can someone tell me what is nhl entry draft? In the website, I saw NFL Entry Draft 2007 and 2007 Top 5 Draft Pick. There are names of teams and players. Hmmm...let me guess. Maybe draft refers to team. No? Let me check the Wikipedia.
A sports draft is the process by which professional sports teams select players not contracted to any team, often from colleges or amateur ranks.
Now I know. hehe. So you hockey fan, check out the website to see which team or players got chosen into the NFL entry draft.

Need a mailbox

My house do need a new mailbox. The one that we have is the small square box and red in color. I hang it outside the house in the open space but the because of the design it would not protect the letter if it rains. The letter would get wet and some of the important documents would be destroyed. I would ensure that every time the postman arrived we would collect the letter immediately.

There is always a problem here to get good mailbox. Most of the residential mailboxes that are sold in the supermarket or shopping centres are of the same design of the mailbox that I currently have. It is very difficult to get a good and suitable design mailboxes. Even for my previous office, we had to order one of the custom-made commercial mailboxes and it is quite costly to do so.

I like the mailbox designs offered by mailboxixchange.com. Each is unique by itself and definitely suitable and able to protect the letters during rainy days. Besides getting a mailbox from them, you can also earn money by joining their affiliate program. The good thing is that you will be paid $20.00 when you sign up for this program. Now, what are you waiting for.

Job offer

Yesterday I received a miss call from a lawyer friend. Called him. He told me that his legal firm is desperately in need of LA. He asked me whether I would consider going back to legal practice. Politely I told him that I would prayerfully consider his offer. If I were to accept his offer, I would have to travel outstation every day as the office is in another state. That is really a negative factor to the offer. Furthermore, it would be a litigation work, i.e. going to court. That is also something that I would prefer not to do. Yes, my legal experience is litigation work but at this age, litigation work is not something that I prefer to do.

Today, I received a SMS from my lawyer friend again, asking me to prayerfully consider working for him. Replied to him that I would pray about it. Lord.... ... .. .. .. .. .. . . ...........
