It is time to face the facts

The Permatang Pauh by-election has ended with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim garnered a higher majority compared to his wife in the last general election. It is indeed a sign for the ruling coalition to face the fact that the people are not happy with the country progress. Many are asking for changes to be made to the nation's economy and not forgetting matters like judicial credibility, government transparency and equal and fair treatment among the races. After the March 8 general election, the government has yet to come up with concrete steps to help the people. Instead, the petrol price has been increased shortly after the election even though the party promised that they would not do so during their election campaign.

So it is no wonder that the people are not happy with the leaders of this country. This led to the incident where the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Najib were thrown with water bottles during the Permatang Pauh by-election. It was reported that as he was leaving one of the campaign stations, the Opposition party supporters jeered at him and threw water bottles. He was not hit and managed to escorted to another place. The Federal Reserve Units had to step in to prevent further scuffles between the supporters of the two parties.

I'm sure that if Datuk Najib was hit, the police would arrest the people to find the perpetrator. Maybe then Datuk Najib need to seek advice from Fort Worth Personal Injury Attorney. No matter how we may dislike our leaders, we should never resort to physical attack against him/her. To our leaders, the people have spoken. It is time to face the facts.

Am I up to it?

My staff got another good job offer from an international company. Well praise God for His blessings upon him. I'm glad that God is opening doors of His blessings upon him and I pray that He will continue to do so.

That means that I will have to work full time at the shop until God blesses me with another trustworthy, honest and reliable staff. Yes, that means that I will have to work from 10am till 12 midnite. It would be a long day away from home, leaving house at 9am and reaching home at 1.00 or 1.30am. Okay, I've done it before when I first started the business, managing the shop alone but that was about 2 years ago. Now, I'm not so sure whether I'm as healthy and strong as before. Am I up to it? Well, whether I am up to it or not, I will still have to be up to it.

Okay, maybe I should also learn about the easiest way to earn from forex trading. Who knows, I might be good at forex trading and might be blessed with some extra income from forex trading. I am sure there are easy ways to earn from forex trading. I've tried forex trading before. Well, okay, only once I tried my hands in forex trading but hey, who knows I might be good in forex trading and can easily earn from forex trading.

Alrite, one thing at a time. Will see how things goes with me having to work all day at the shop, then only I will think about earning from forex trading.

Getting the best deal

My internet shop needs another broadband line. Due to the increase in computers in the shop and partly also due to the increase in bandwidth usage, many of the customers are complaining of slow internet connection. We noticed that if half of the customers are playing online games, the other customers would experienced slow connection. Well, that is a sign that I need to install another broadband line.

The last time we signed up for the broadband line, we managed to get a desktop. It is really worth the money invested. Now, Charter.com is offering an irresistible offer. They are offering three great Charter services online – Charter High-Speed® Internet at $19.99/mo for 6 months, Charter Digital Home™ and High-Speed Internet at $69.98/mo for 6 months or Charter Digital Home™, High-Speed Internet, and Charter Telephone® at $99.97/mo. for 12 months. And to add to that offer, every purchaser will be receive a Free Shell gas gift card. Furthermore, he is automatically entered to win 1 of 30 HP Compaq Presario C770US Laptops.

If I am entitled to it, I would definitely go for this Charter Laptop-a-Day Giveaway. The value is much more than what you will be paying for.

Going picnic

Wifey forced me to wake up today. "Wake up. We're going to the beach". I was like..."huh"....I want to sleep lah. But as much as I want to continue my beauty sleep, I know I had to go to the beach. The children are all inside the car, waiting, waiting for their daddy and mommy to bring them to the beach. So, had to force myself to sleep...oops..to wake up.

The weather was cloudy and windy. It was high tide but we managed to find a spot. As usual the children got their feet sandy straightaway while we enjoy our breakfast. After an hour there, we head back home.

Auto Body repairs

Our car has yet to be fitted with the new accessories. We were thinking of changing the car seat covers with a new pvc type cover. Currently it is the cloth type seat cover and get easily dirty with stains from the children's food and drinks. Well, that will cost us a big sum which will definitely makes our pocket emptier (if there is such a word to describe it). We do pray that we will not be involved in any accidents which requires major auto body repairs on the car. Anyway, since I would be cycling most of the time, the car would be idle most of the time. Hopefully with the exercises I get from cycling to work, my own body will be auto repaired to be fitter and healthier.

Holiday Apartment in Melaka

My apartment in Bukit Beruang, Melaka is vacant again. The tenants could not pay the deposit and the rental and we have to ask them to move out. It is not the right time to look for tenants as most of the students would have a place to stay by now. The same thing happened to Michelle's apartment.

As such we decided to use the two apartments as Holiday Apartments. There are swimming pool facilities in both of the apartments area. The cost is only RM100 a night, still negotiable if you are planning to stay longer. It is a 3 rooms apartment; fully furnished with air-cond, fridge, washing machine, jug kettle, gas stove (yes, you can cook but don't burn down my apartments enough already), sofa, dining table and TV. Sorry, no water heater.

If you looking for Holiday Apartments in Melaka, please call me at 012-2544606, David or Michelle.

One thing I would like to do in my lifetime

One of the things that I hope to do during my lifetime is to try out the highest roller coaster ride in the world. Yes, that would be some exciting memory. I can imagine the adrenalin gushing all over my body while coming down from the highest peak. It sounds scary and yet exciting. It is the feeling of the state of “no return”. Whatever happens is beyond my control and I just have to hang on until I reached ground. Truthfully, I am not sure whether I would be wetting my pants from the excitement but I will make sure I go to the loo before I sit on that thing. As for my children, I would get for them discount Disney World tickets which I am sure they would thoroughly enjoy themselves there.

For the Love of the Malays

Bar Council's forum on conversion to Islam met with opposition today. The Star paper reported that about 300 people held a protest outside of Bar Council building, some even holding placards saying "Jangan Cabar Islam" = "Don't Challenge Islam". As much as I hope that this country has become a better place after 50 years of independence, the truth that hurts is that it is not so. In fact, due to the country leaders propaganda for more than 50 years, the opposite seems to happen. Well, from the outside, this country has developed to be one of the developing country.

However, the mentality of the people especially the Malays seems to have gone backwards. Due to NEP policies that baby-feed the Malays in almost all things that they do, they have failed to become strong but have now becoming too dependent on subsidies and quotas from the government. Mind you, the former Prime Minister had said that 90% of the country taxes are generated from the NON-MALAYS and yet most of the country's policies are discriminating against the Non-malays. Okay, that is happening here in Malaysia.

Back to the Bar Council forum on the conversion to Islam. If Islam is perfect and a good religion as most Muslim ulamas would claim, why is the fear when people want to discuss about the tenets of Islam. Why are they so afraid to let other people discuss about it. The No. 2 said that such forums would incite anger and very sensitive issue to this nation. That is a very backward thinking. Using race and religion to instill fear in the hearts of people who wants the freedom to address matters affecting their lives.

I would not be surprised the shallow mentality of the ulamas (most of them if not all) and the MPs who would be very happy to organize protests upon protests everytime the name Islam is being "challenged" in any way. Why should you protest when Islam is being discussed by others? Why not protest to the injustice and corruptions that occurred under our very nose? Why not protest against our MPs and country leaders who blatantly speak lies, who have no integrity to tell the truths.

When the book and movie Da Vinci Code appeared, the Christian communities does not organize protests upon protests. What the book and movie achieved in the end is to instill a deeper desire to know the truth about the Biblical teaching. No "fatwa" was issued by the Christian leaders to kill the author of the book. I guess the same does not apply when we are talking about Islam. When Satanic Verses was written, a fatwa was issued to kill Salman Rushdie. The Muslims were happy because there are protests upon protests but unfortunately not many benefits from it. Yes, they finds anger aroused in them but no further understanding about the Quran.

As much as I loves this country of mine, I too feel that many things are not going the way it is supposed to go but going the other direction. For the love of the Malays, I do hope and pray that many would wake up from their "slumber".

My First Wife

While driving back from the apartment, I shared with my wife about the many experiences riding the bicycle to work. Last week, I cycled to work for the first 4 days while drove the car on the other two days. The motorcycle was left unused. I told wifey that I pity my motorbike, being left unused for so long.

She then remarked that the motorbike is like my wife. Jokingly I told her that the motorbike is my first wife, then the car, then her and now the bicycle. I know that some people do treat their vehicles to that extent, but my wife would still be Michelle Soo.

Spending money in Las Vegas

When you are talking about city of entertainment, one might think of Las Vegas. That is not surprising as the amount of investment poured into the city is tremendous. Rightly so, people would have a wonderful time spending their holidays there, staying in some of the beautiful Las Vegas Hotels available there. I would say that you would definitely enjoy yourself there if you have tons of money to spend.

As for me, the best city of entertainment that I can afford is Genting Highland. Even then, there are many things there that I would not have the chance to enjoy due to limited finance and time. Hmm….come to think of it, I think I prefers to use my money to bless others than to waste it unnecessarily.

Setting up wireless connection

My staff told me that when a few of my customers are playing online game simultaneously, the other customers would experience in a slow down in accessing the net. This would mean that it is time to add in additional internet line to increase the internet bandwidth so that all the customers would be happy with fast internet connection speed. Another option is to provide wireless connection to my customers. If you are thinking of setting up a wireless connection you will be needing a wireless: router, access point (if your router doesn't serve as one) and adapter.

Of course, a fixed cable line is much better than a wireless connection. As such, if you are thinking of playing online games or streaming videos and movies, then you would need 802.11g internet connection and invest in a digital-media adapter. Once you have all the necessary items, set it up and make sure you take time to ensure the computers are secured. You need to set up the NAT firewall setting and also the WEP or WPA setting so that your computers would not easily accessed by other visitors/customers computers. Well, if you do not have any inkling of what I have just wrote, please do not hesitate to pay the computer technician guy to set it up for you.
